Change Your World June Updates

June 11th, 2011 » No Comments » CYW BLOGS

Dear World Changers,

I want to thank all of you for your continued support to Change Your World (CYW) and to some of you who are contributing to our “Pledge RM50” program.

First of all I would like to share some bad news and good news.

The bad news is Tenaganita, one of the bodies that we were contributing our “ pledge RM50” program, has seized to operate their shelter for human trafficked women due to insufficient funds. We were informed by one of the senior officers in Tenaganita that the trafficked and abused women who were in their shelters has been transferred to a government facility and they will still be taken care of.

With this situation, they have requested not to give them any more funds as that was our pledge to them which was to shelter trafficked women.

But the good news is God is always Good. As when we asked ourselves then whom do we give the “pledge RM50” as well as all the contribution that was given to us, a bigger door opened and opportunity for us to not only give contributions but to be more involved in fighting human trafficking and slavery.

We are excited to inform you of new developments in CYW as this year we wanted to bring CYW to a new level nationally & internationally.

I. CYW partners NOT FOR SALE

CYW partners with NOT FOR SALE (www.notforsalecampaign.org) to combat human trafficking and slavery globally.

Here is a statement from Not For Sale :
“Not For Sale is a leading organization working to end modern-day slavery.  It is Not For Sale’s goal to create new futures for the vulnerable and survivors in collaborative, innovative, and creative ways.  We are also a movement of hope.  In recent conversations with Kelvin Lim we see that Change Your World has similar values.  Therefore, we at Not For Sale will be working together with Kelvin and others to create some form of collaborative work and partnership.  Together we can end modern-day slavery in Malaysia and other places.  Together we can be a movement of hope. “
Rev. Kevin Austin
Director of the Abolitionist Faith Community for Not For Sale

NOT FOR SALE is an international movement founded in U.S. and is at the forefront of combating human trafficking all across the world. They have the resources, materials and knowledge on how to create awareness as well as take action against the world of human trafficking and slavery.

With NOT FOR SALE as our partner, we are now able to have the resources, ideas and action plans to move to the next level in fighting human trafficking.

If there are no objections from anyone who have been contributing to CYW, we would like to give the money we have collected for Tenaganita to NOT FOR SALE. Please do email us if you have any objections by June 14,2011.

CYW South Africa: Our Story

What comes to your mind when you hear the word africa?

How about South Africa?

Diamonds?
Poverty?
Hot dessert?

When we landed in Cape Town for the first time in 13th March 2011,
it was a totally different Africa we heard of.

First thing that caught our attention was the wonderful chilly weather.
Nothing like the hot weather asians tend to associate with. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL. A mountain next to a sea comparable to Miami beach. I’ve never been to Miami but it was certainly beautiful.

The only comparable beauty was in the people. (Read more)
